Acute and Chronic Pain
Working with a psychologist to help manage pain is typically one part of a larger treatment plan. Psychological approaches to managing pain help people to take less medication, reduce pain, get back into life, and improve quality of life. I use evidence-based treatments, including ACT, CBT, and mindfulness, to help people meet these goals. Of course, we can't "think" pain away, but for many people, our minds can aggravate pain and keep it sticking around longer. Treatment for pain is typically 8-12 visits.
